Abstract

In recent years, there has been a substantial increase in the production of scientific research in the field of pediatrics. This trend has also been observed in Peru; however, despite evident progress, research output remains at an early stage when compared with that of other Latin American countries. Importantly, the value of conducting research extends beyond personal or institutional prestige. Evidence suggests that hospitals with sustained, high-quality scientific production tend to achieve better outcomes, both in clinical performance and institutional management. Likewise, health research has been shown to be essential for improving health indicators and for informing the development of evidence-based health policies.
