Authorship

Each person listed as an author is responsible for having made a significant and identifiable contribution to the various stages of the research and for being accountable for all aspects of the work.

The journal recognizes as authors those who meet all the criteria stablished by the ICMJE:

  • Substantial contributions to the conception and design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  • Drafting the article or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  • Final approval of the version to be published.
  • Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Authors must meet all the criteria above to be considered authors.

The corresponding author must submit a Sworn Statement detailing the individual contributions of each author according to the CRediT taxonomy. Individuals who contributed to the study but do not meet authorship criteria may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section, with their prior consent.

Artificial intelligence and authorship

Artificial intelligence tools, including language models (e.g., ChatGPT), do not currently meet authorship criteria. Any use of such tools must be transparently declared in the “Use of artificial intelligence” section on the first page of the manuscript, specifying the tool used, its version, and the specific purpose of its use.
