Introduction: Scientific research in institutions of Peru has experienced significant advancement, with notable contribution from the National Institute of Child Health of San Borja, a high-complexity hospital focused on pediatric population, established in 2013.
Objective: To analyze the scientific production of the “Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño San Borja”’ characteristics using the SCOPUS database until the year 2023.
Methods: An observational and descriptive study with a bibliometric approach was conducted on documents authored by at least one individual affiliated with the institute and published in SCOPUS until December 2023.
Results: A total of 128 articles published since 2015 were identified, with 2021 standing out as the year with the highest production. Out of the total number of publications, 79.69% were gold open access, with 39.06% being observational studies. 41.41% of articles had no affiliation of the author and/or corresponding author to the Institute, and only 1 article of the 75 with affiliation, received funding from that institution.
Conclusion: The National Institute of Child Health of San Borja has experienced significant growth in its indexed publications in SCOPUS, with observational studies and case reports being the most frequently published. However, there is a low representation in terms of primary or corresponding authorship, as well as in article funding.
